Camp Broadway Experience

Last summer, I participated in Camp Broadway, an intensive theater program in New York City. I wanted to challenge myself further in an environment where students from all over the world, who are passionate about theater, gather to take part in creating a stage production.  From the first day, I was surrounded by people who love theater as much as I do, and the energy was contagious. It was the perfect mix of learning, laughing, and discovering just how much fun performing can be.

Our big show was Catch Me If You Can, and I landed a role as one of the stewardesses. In rehearsals we focused on singing, dancing, and memorizing lines. We got a lot of valuable instruction from top performers in the industry. It was a lot of fun working closely with my castmates, and we did our best to make the performance as polished as possible.

One of the best parts was that I got a small solo part in the play. It was both scary and exciting at the same time, but it taught me that sometimes the biggest challenges are the most rewarding. It was a big boost to my confidence as a performer.

On top of performing, we got to watch Boop! The Musical, which was pure inspiration. Seeing professional actors bring a show to life gave me so many ideas and made me even more excited to keep performing. I remember a moment of getting to see inside one of the dressing rooms and seeing photos of all the big actors who had performed there including one of my favorites, Tom Hanks!

By the end of the summer, I felt like I had grown so much as a performer. I made amazing friends, learned new skills, and created memories I’ll never forget. Camp Broadway was a place where I could shine, take risks, and fall in love with theater all over again.
